Here is a very belated report
from a trip a few weeks ago prior to TS Alberto. Johnny "Sweetspot"
Helmes and his crew of Sarasota slingers got a fast track start with a
triple backdive first spot on the way out to the MG which put a healthy
bottom layer of gags and big mangos in the fish box followed by a mad
hook and line red snapper scramble at dusk racking up our limit in a
couple of hours.
The MG offered up perfect conditions of flat seas, no current, and
60'-80' vis with plenty of nice hogfish which is what the guys were
looking for. The JR2 has been on the spearfishing down low for most the
month with hook and line charters as well as Jimmy Z and I each going on
vacation. Summer season cranks up in earnest next week with
Kitefisherman and his Boca crew. Watch for the video coming soon
